As part of the 2010 Marketing Society Star Awards, I was asked to create a campaign that will encourage visitors to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games to take responsibility for their fuel usage and carbon emissions. I created The National Transports Championship; a competition for spectators. The more environmentally friendly visitors are then the more points they will earn, and the closer they will be to winning a medal for their country. Pedometers, mobile apps, and public transport zone cards allow participants to track their travelling habits, while online accommodation booking system, which score each hotel, B&B, and hostel on its environmental friendliness, offers only the most environmentally friendly accommodation.
